The
commercial capital of Myanmar is Yangon. In
1755, King Alaungpaya, the founder of
Konbaungset Dynasty, to accomplish to
reunite the whole of Myanmar, conquered
Dagon. At that time, it was just a fishing
village.The King gave the name “Yangon”. |

Mandalay
is located in central Myanmar. The city
situated on the Eastern back of Ayeyarwaddy
River. It is also known asYatanabon
Naypyitaw which means Gem City. It was
established in 1857 by King Mindon. Today,
it is largest city next to Yangon. |

What
to wear, carry – Casual and light clothing
is recomended but not skimpy dress nor those
that may offend the reserved nature of
Myanmar. Light sweater or jackdt will be
useful early in the morning and late evening
during cold season. Shoes and other footwear
must be removed before entering pagodas,
temples, monasteries and other religious
buildigs and homes. A pair of Myanmar
slippers will be very useful. |

Known
as the “Oasis of dry zone”, Popa is a steep
sided volcanic peak dedicated to the
legendary “nat” spirits of Myanmar. The
mountain itself is considered to be sacred-
a sort of Mt. Olympus, an abode of the Gods.
Set amid lovely hill and forest scenery.
Popa- a great extinct volcano last active
250,000 years ago, is a forest clad landmark
rising to 1,520 meters from the flat,
surrounding Myingan Plains. |

Mrauk-U
is an ancient city in the Rakhine State,
which is situated in the western part of the
Union of Myanmar.Mrauk-U is also a place
where cultural heritages have flourished for
many years.The Rakhine State is close to the
Bay of Bengal and the coastal region is full
of rocks and reefs and may be that is why so
many stone-sculptures can be seen as ancient
cultural crafts in the Rakhine region. |

This
vast lake is located in the heart of Shan
State which shares borders with Thai & Laos.
And it climbs up to over 900 metres above
sea level and outrageously beautiful. Inle
Lake is located in the mountains so it is
cooler than other areas. More than 30 hill
tribes are living in the mountains.This vast
picturesque lake, 900 metres above
sea-level, is one of the main tourist
attractions in Myanmar. The lake, 22 km long
and 10 km across, has a population of some
150,000, many of whom live on floating
islands of vegetation. Inle Lake, natural
and unpolluted, is famous for its scenic
beauty and the unique leg-rowing of the
Inthas, the native lake dwellers. |

Pindaya
is a small quiet town perched on the bank of
the placid Botoloke Lake. Pindaya cave is a
huge cavern where hundreds and thousands of
Buddha images in various size and shape are
installed since the 11th century. The
winding galleries and nooks and corners are
ideal places of insight meditation since the
olden days. Huge monastery compounds with
numerous pagodas and temples in different
stages of dilapidation are much respected by
such ethnic groups as the Shans, Danus and
Paos living in the environs of Pinday |

Ngapali
is accessible by flight which takes about 45
minutes from Yangon, by car about 14 hours
drive along the Rakhine Yoma mountain range.

Hakhar
is the capital of Chin State in Myanmar. The
city is 6120 ft above sea level and it lies
at the foot of Rungtlang (Mount Rung), which
is about 7543 ft high, and is one of the
most famous and beautiful mountain peaks in
the Chin State. |

Bago is one of the richest archaeological
sites in Myanmar. Apparently Mons were the
first to settle at this site. Two Mon
brothers Thamala and Wimala from Thaton,
first founded the city about 825 A.D. In
13th century A.D. The site, which was then
on the Gulf of Martaban, had already been
earmarked as the location of a great city by
Gautama, the historic Buddha. Bago was made
the capital of the Mon Kingdom and it came
to be known as Hansavati (Hanthawaddy). It
was also the seaport of ancient Mon kings.
Then it became the Second Myanmar Empire
founded by King Bayinnaung. |
